How We Met Dave and I met in January, 1995. We were both students at Portland State University and Dave moved into the dorm that I lived in. We met a couple of days after that, and hit it off immediately. We've been together ever since.
We were married July 8th, 2000, which was our five and a half year anniversary as a couple. Dave proposed December 4th, 1999 at my former company's annual holiday party. The party was always an extravagant affair in a ballroom at one of Portland's finest hotels. Everyone dresses for the occasion and enjoys a lovely evening of food, dancing, mingling and some fabulous doorprizes. Dave had worked at the same company (he helped me get my job there) but he had left a couple months earlier for a new job. Because of this, I was very surprised when he went up on the stage and said he had the honor of awarding the first doorprize of the evening! It was a "Romance Package" for a weekend stay at a B&B and, needless to say, I won! When I went up on stage to claim my prize, Dave continued by saying that there was a bonus package which I could win by answering one question correctly. The bonus package included one dozen long-stem red roses, a diamond Claddagh engagement ring, and a lifelong journey with someone who loves me more than anything in the world. He got down on one knee, pulled out the ring and I said yes!
